Recently, I drove up to Washington DC for Chikasha Poya – We Are Chickasaw – at the National Museum of the American Indian. I had a great time stomp dancing and enjoying the music of Injunuity. I was particularly excited to learn of all of the educational opportunities with the Chickasaw Nation, including the arts and humanities experiences that integrate art-based skill development with cultural learning. In the future I hope to be involved in a similar program centered around Science, Technology, Education and Mathematics (STEM) education. I also enjoyed meeting fellow Chickasaw Nation citizens and am looking forward to my next trip back to our nation!
